After more than twenty-five years in Washington, DC, jeweler, metalsmith, conservator and educator Michael R. Schwartz has moved his business Creative Metalworks to Kensington, MD. Creative Metalworks is a design and manufacturing company for the museum and arts industries, a quality foundry for precious metals, a complete molding and reproduction facility and a most formidable jewelry and smithing studio. They offer complete design and production services specializing in Custom Jewelry, Presentation Art, Corporate Gifts, and Museum Conservation /Restoration services. In 2006 Mr. Schwartz realized a lifelong dream and Opened Creative Metalworks School of Design

Creative Metalworks is located at 10501 Wheatley Street on the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Wheatley Street in the heart of historic Kensington MD. The 7200 SF building has been totally renovated to house the company.

"Our all new and grand facilities in Kensington have brought about tremendous growth. We have opened 'Creative Metalworks Tool and Supply' as well as “Creative Metalworks School of Design'. Classes are ongoing in all facets of metalsmithing, design, and related fields of study."

Born and raised in the Washington metropolitan area, Mr. Schwartz resides in Montgomery County with his wife and son. A jeweler for 35 years, Schwartz earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1978 concentrating in jewelry fabrication and casting and received his Master of Education degree in 1980 from the University of Maryland. He has built a national reputation as an artist and metalsmith. His work can be seen in art galleries and at exhibitions and read about in national magazines, newspapers and professional journals.
